On the basis of an enthusiastic referral from next door neighbors, we engaged JIL Design to remodel our kitchen, master bath, and master closet. As homeowners with previous experience with large remodeling projects, we are, at the end of the project, over-the-top pleased with JIL design and build services.
The planning and design process occurred smoothly with no gap in communication. Every step was completed in a timely manner and with great regard to our budget.
Prior to construction, we received a project planning timetable in calendar format. To our amazement each step occurred on time. When during construction we asked whether the project could be completed a week early to accommodate a family gathering, the response was “yes we can do that” – and they did. A few unanticipated issues were dealt with promptly and with great creativity.
We were also very pleased with the professionalism, care, and affability of each sub-contractor. They were consistently respectful, and the quality of their work was excellent. The work site was neat and clean, and every effort was made to minimize disruption to our household. The final product truly is both very beautiful and functional.
Irit Winston, the owner-designer-contractor, and her staff were extraordinarily attentive to even the most minute detail. Irit’s contractor credential enable her to communicate very effectively with sub-contractors because she speaks the builders’ language. Equally impressive was the frequent, often more than once daily, communication with Irit and her staff.
Irit, her staff, and her sub-contractors have earned our most enthusiastic recommendation. If we were to do another project, we would hire JIL Design in an instant.

I’ve been living with your kitchen design and Josh’s good work for a few months and I wanted to let you know how pleased I am with our choices and my kitchen. The island granite is always interesting and so convenient. I love the unusual shape, pattern and under counter storage. For the first few weeks I was afraid to put anything on it, but now I use it all the time. The microwave in a drawer is very convenient and the induction cook top is fast as gas without the unpleasant odor. A surprise favorite is the ventilation hood – I’ve had them all my life, but rarely used them because they were so noisy. This one is quiet and efficient and lights up the cook top. I use it every time I turn the cook top on. And, when my granddaughter saw all my spices alphabetically arranged in the drawer under the cook top she announced she wanted to cook in my kitchen. I am, also, so glad you were able to accommodate my wish to have the washer/dryer in the house. It’s made a big difference that I appreciate whenever I do laundry. And the exhaust fan in the garage works reliably and has noticeably lowered the temperature in the garage on warm days. That was a great suggestion by your electrician.
Josh was a wonderful support through the whole process – quickly responsive and always sympathetic on the few occasions when things went wrong. You and he are a terrific team. And I especially appreciate the fact that there were no big surprises in the cost and that you both kept me up to date on any changes.
Please do not hesitate to give me as a reference for your firm. Working with your firm has been an exhilarating and satisfying experience.

Our current extensive remodel is our THIRD time using JIL. Two other homes we have lived in and loved were JIL projects. Owner Irit Winston is a gem and a genius. Odd shaped old rooms turn into spacious and beautiful living spaces. Any concerns are met with a quick response, a good ear and a “we’ll take care of it.” They are conscientious about spending our money when given a budget. Creative and beautiful solutions anyways.. We really wouldn’t use anyone else.

JIL recently remodeled two bathrooms in our home. We are very happy with our new spaces and from start to finish the process was much easier than we anticipated a remodel to be.
